1.3 Recommended uses:
Silicon – 75 is a custom blended mineral admixture intended for use in ferrous metal production. The mineral components of the mixture are employed to remove oxygen from molten metal and control chemical content and performance characteristics of finished metal products.

SECTION 4: FIRST AID MEASURES

4.1 Description of First Aid Measures

Difficulty breathing – Provide oxygen treatment, Supply fresh air, consult medical assistance if difficulty breathing persists.
Skin contact – Wash contacted area with mild soap and water, consult doctor if skin irritation persists.
Eye contact – Remove contact lenses, rinse eyes with running water, consult doctor if irritation persists.
Ingestion – Drink water to clear mouth and throat, do not induce vomiting, consult doctor immediately.

4.2 Important – Slight irritant effect on eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Delayed and acute symptoms include breathing difficulty and coughing. May cause cancer. Route of exposure: inhalation.

5.1 Extinguishing media – Use fire extinguishing methods suitable to surrounding area.

SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

6.1 Personnel Precautions, Protective Equipment and Emergency Procedures – Ensure adequate ventilation, avoid formation of airborne dust, use respiratory protective inhalation device, wear protective clothing.
6.2 Environmental Precautions– Do not allow spills to enter sewer, surface or ground water.
6.3 Method and materials for containment– Pick up mechanically for disposal or re-use in suitable containers.

7.1 Precautions for safe handling– Prevent formation of dust, Use in well ventilated area.
7.2 Fire and explosion requirements – Store in dry, well ventilated area. In the event that material becomes wetted, air dry thoroughly before using.

8.2 Exposure controls
8.2.1- Immediately remove all solid and contaminated clothing. Do not inhale dust/smoke/fumes. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin. Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work. Protect family from exposure at home.
8.2.2- Use suitable respiratory protective device when high airborne concentrations are present.
8.2.3- Wear safety glasses

SECTION 10: STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

10.1 Reactivity: Non-reactive under normal and advised working conditions. Reactive at molten ferrous metal temperature producing oxide slag and CO2 as intended.
10.2 Chemical stability: No decomposition used and stored according to specifications.
10.3 Possibility OF Hazardous Reaction: Elemental silicon metal can oxidize on surface liberating H2 if wetted. Store wetted material in well ventilated area to eliminate and potential hydrogen accumulation. Reacts with strong alkali and/or oxidizing agents.
10.4 Conditions to avoid: Store in dry well ventilated area. Protect from exposure to water.
10.5 Hazardous Decomposition Products: Hydrogen in trace quantities if wetted.

SECTION 11: TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

11.1 Likely routes of exposure:
Skin– Abrasion not known to cause lasting dermal effect
Eyes– Abrasive dust irritant can cause irritant effect
Inhalation– Contains small quantities of SiO2 known Carcinogen 1A. Irritating dust may cause coughing and/or shortness of breath.
Repeated exposure– May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure resulting in skin and/or respiratory sensitivity.
CMR effects- carcinogenic 1A.
